Surah Al Mutafffin

Translations

83:1 (Y. Ali) Woe to those that deal in fraud,-

83:1 (Picktall) Woe unto the defrauders:


Surah Al Mutafffin

Translations

83:2 (Y. Ali) Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, exact full measure,

83:2 (Picktall) Those who when they take the measure from mankind demand it full,


Surah Al Mutafffin

Translations

83:3 (Y. Ali) But when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due.

83:3 (Picktall) But if they measure unto them or weigh for them, they cause them loss.

83:4 (Y. Ali) Do they not think that they will be called to account?-

83:4 (Picktall) Do such (men) not consider that they will be again

83:8 (Y. Ali) And what will explain to thee what Sijjin is?

83:8 (Picktall) Ah! what will convey unto thee what Sijjin is!

83:9 (Y. Ali) (There is) a Register (fully) inscribed.

83:9 (Picktall) A written record.

83:10 (Y. Ali) Woe, that Day, to those that deny-

83:10 (Picktall) Woe unto the repudiators on that day!

83:12 (Y. Ali) And none can deny it but the Transgressor beyond bounds the Sinner!

83:13 (Y. Ali) When Our Signs are rehearsed to him, he says, "Tales of the ancients!"

83:13 (Picktall) Who, when thou readest unto him Our revelations, saith: (Mere) fables of the men of old

83:14 (Y. Ali) By no means! but on their hearts is the stain of the (ill) which they do!

83:14 (Picktall) Nay, but that which they have earned is rust upon their hearts.

83:15 (Y. Ali) Verily, from (the Light of) their Lord, that Day, will they be veiled.

83:15 (Picktall) Nay, but surely on that day they will be covered from (the mercy of) their Lord.

83:16 (Y. Ali) Further, they will enter the Fire of Hell.

83:16 (Picktall) Then lo! they verily will burn in hell,

83:17 (Y. Ali) Further, it will be said to them: "This is the (reality) which ye rejected as false!

83:17 (Picktall) And it will be said (unto them): This is that which ye used to deny.

83:18 (Y. Ali) Nay, verily the record of the Righteous is (preserved) in 'Illiyin.

83:18 (Picktall) Nay, but the record of the righteous is in Iliyin

83:19 (Y. Ali) And what will explain to thee what 'Illiyun is?

83:19 (Picktall) Ah, what will convey unto thee what Iliyin is!

83:23 (Y. Ali) On Thrones (of Dignity) will they command a sight (of all things):

83:24 (Y. Ali) Thou wilt recognise in their faces the beaming brightness of Bliss.

83:24 (Picktall) Thou wilt know in their faces the radiance of delight

83:26 (Picktall) Whose seal is musk. For this let (all) those strive who strive for bliss

83:27 (Picktall) And mixed with water of Tasnim,

83:28 (Y. Ali) A spring, from (the waters) whereof drink those Nearest to Allah.

83:28 (Picktall) A spring whence those brought near to Allah drink

83:29 (Y. Ali) Those in sin used to laugh at those who believed,

83:29 (Picktall) Lo! the guilty used to laugh at those who believed,

83:30 (Y. Ali) And whenever they passed by them, used to wink at each other (in mockery);

83:30 (Picktall) And wink one to another when they passed them;

83:31 (Y. Ali) And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting;

83:31 (Picktall) And when they returned to their own folk, they returned jetting;

83:32 (Y. Ali) And whenever they saw them, they would say, "Behold! These are the people truly astray!"

83:32 (Picktall) And when they saw them they said: Lo! these have gone astray.

83:33 (Y. Ali) But they had not been sent as keepers over them!

83:33 (Picktall) Yet they were not sent as guardians over them.

83:34 (Picktall) This day it is those who believe who have the laugh of disbelievers,
