In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
82:1 (Y. Ali) When the Sky is cleft asunder;
82:1 (Picktall) When the heaven is cleft asunder,
82:2 (Y. Ali) When the Stars are scattered;
82:2 (Picktall) When the planets are dispersed,
82:3 (Y. Ali) When the Oceans are suffered to burst forth;
82:3 (Picktall) When the seas are poured forth,
82:4 (Y. Ali) And when the Graves are turned upside down;-
82:4 (Picktall) And the sepulchres are overturned,
82:5 (Y. Ali) (Then) shall each soul know what it hath sent forward and (what it hath) kept back.
82:5 (Picktall) A soul will know what it hath sent before (it) and what left behind.
82:6 (Y. Ali) O man! What has seduced thee from thy Lord Most Beneficent?-
82:6 (Picktall) O man! What hath made thee careless concerning thy Lord, the Bountiful,
82:7 (Y. Ali) Him Who created thee. Fashioned thee in due proportion, and gave thee a just bias;
82:7 (Picktall) Who created thee, then fashioned, then proportioned thee?
82:8 (Y. Ali) In whatever Form He wills, does He put thee together.
82:8 (Picktall) Into whatsover form He will, He casteth thee
82:9 (Y. Ali) Day! nit ye do reject Right and Judgment!
82:9 (Picktall) Nay, but they deny the Judgment.
82:10 (Y. Ali) But verily over you (are appointed angels) to protect you,-
82:10 (Picktall) Lo ! there are above you guardians,
82:11 (Y. Ali) Kind and honourable,- Writing down (your deeds):
82:11 (Picktall) Generous and recording,
82:12 (Y. Ali) They know (and understand) all that ye do.
82:12 (Picktall) Who know (all) that ye do.
82:13 (Y. Ali) As for the Righteous, they will be in bliss;
82:13 (Picktall) Lo! the righteous verily will be in delight
82:14 (Y. Ali) And the Wicked - they will be in the Fire,
82:14 (Picktall) And lo! the wicked verily will be in hell;
82:15 (Y. Ali) Which they will enter on the Day of Judgment,
82:15 (Picktall) They will burn therein on the Day of Judgment,
82:16 (Y. Ali) And they will not be able to keep away therefrom.
82:16 (Picktall) And will not be absent thence.
82:17 (Y. Ali) And what will explain to thee what the Day of Judgment is?
82:17 (Picktall) Ah, what will convey unto thee what the Day of Judgment is!
82:18 (Y. Ali) Again, what will explain to thee what the Day of Judgment is?
82:18 (Picktall) Again, what will convey unto thee what the Day of Judgment is!
82:19 (Y. Ali) (It will be) the Day when no soul shall have power (to do) aught for another: For the command, that Day, will be (wholly) with Allah.
82:19 (Picktall) A day on which no soul hath power at all for any (other) soul. The (absolute) command on that day is Allah's.
